Iyengar Yoga General Meeting
Formation of Iyengar Yoga Association in Hong Kong
IYASEEA is the association of Iyengar yoga teachers and practitioners in Asia. Established in 2009, IYASEEA is responsible for maintaining standards of teaching of Iyengar yoga and undertakes regular assessments and certification of those wishing to teach. It enables teachers to remain up-to-date and to help maintain the validity of their teaching certificate.
Recently, Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar sent a letter to the Executive Committee of IYASEEA expressing his wishes that each country of IYASEEA, forms their own independent association.
Guruji states:
"Due to the distances between the different countries that are represented in your association and the different laws that govern each country, I would like you all to create independent associations for each country."
As such, we invited all Iyengar Yoga teachers and practitioners in Hong Kong to a meeting with the objective of setting up an Iyengar Yoga association. Elections were held for various roles and responsibilities that will be needed to serve association members.

How Did it Work? Each session was conducted over a period of 45 minutes. During the first 15 minutes, there was an explanation of the types of Pranayama and methods chosen for practice on that day. During the next 30 minutes, those types of Pranayama that had been explained were practiced. Minimal instruction was given.
